As the title says, what did you trade, if anything, when you bought your 914?
Most interested in buyers of brand new 914's, but let's hear from all. And, do you remember (assuming you didn't pay cash) what your payments were? I traded a very rusty 65 Beetle, with 180k miles on it (got 300 for it!), and put another $1200 down. My payments for 36 months were just under $100/month. Paid it off in 18 months. Times and money DO chaange! Pat |

A Gibson Les Paul Jr. -- Mint with a mint alligator case.
Probably worth more than any 914-4 right now. Definately worth more than "that" 914 (poor thing didn't have a rear fog light). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) What year and color? I love guitar stories! I would be a slightly richer man today had I followed my heart rather than my head on guitar purchases. That is not often the case with investments of any sort. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) What year and color? I love guitar stories! I would be a slightly richer man today had I followed my heart rather than my head on guitar purchases. That is not often the case with investments of any sort. I traded 5% of my 401k in the form of a loan for the 914. Not too bad at 27 years old, while I justify it as I type this! I am paying myself back 200$ a month on it. I got a *very* good deal on it including 1400$ enclose transport from CA to MD. On the guitar subject when the market crapped itself, I bought a 1988 american strat with a maple fretboard in a gorgeous wine color. it sat in this pawn shop so long the frets rusted, so some taping off and 2000 grit later I have a beautiful sounding guitar. I put some hot gold lace sensor pickups in it, and it is awesome. The finish has a few chips a lot of scratches, but I plan on having it fixed or just letting it age and relic. I also picked up a damn minty 1988 Strat Plus Deluxe with lace sensors. Rosewood fretboard, some fairly worn frets and the awesome rare metal wilkinson nut. It has a lot of sustain. I love that design even though you need to keep it well lubricated, it sounds different and adds to the sustain. It is apparently called black pearl dust, and I have never seen another like it. This is blue pearl dust, I have yet to see another in this color. I dont know if it is production or custom, I wish there were a fender guru around.
