So I took my Mahles off my 74 and to Les Schwab to get the ratty tires removed so that I can refinish the wheels. They "were" straight, not badly rashed wheels set up for hub centric front disks. I drop the wheels off with my DD with plans to get everything picked up after they close because I had stuff to do. That is when things go horribly wrong.
1. When I pick up my car I check the trunk and they did not remove the weights or stems like I asked. Small deal. 2. I get to keep the 10 year old (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) tires apparently, because they are in the trunk with the wheels. Little bigger deal. 3. Sunday morning I am fired up to start working on my wheels. I unload the tires and chuck them in my junk car part pile. I grab a wheel in each hand and head to the "garage" when I notice a shiny spot on the back of a wheel. The stupid friggin' tire monkey hit my wheel with the tire machine! There is a huge deviation on the back lip of the wheel. Now I have 3 wheels that are straight and not curbed up, 5 original center caps, 1 wheel that is garbage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) I am SO pissed and needed to vent before I throw the wheel at the store manager (I used to work there, also....) Now I get to try and convince the store manager that those dirty oxidized wheels that were sitting out for 5 years are actually 36 year old Porsche wheels that are hard to find, and would have refinished just fine. |

I should note that I haven't been to a LS in a long time. Around here there is Discount Tire. They use euro tire machines 99% of the time on everything. Still have to watch them, but they are much, much better.
