The back section of the cable went bad--swelled up and broke the sheath. I have a 75 and the cable goes to the ERG. I've jacked up the rear, removed the pass seat and carpeting over the tunnel.

I assume the cable is pulled from the rear and the opening in the firewall is large enough to pull the attaching ring through as well. Was going to attach some string to the cable.

Is there anything more to this ?

Not too bad of job, just did mine last weekend again. It goes through the firewall, then kinda comes out and runs along the top of the tunnel with the wiring. Easiest way was to leave the back disconnected, allowing a little more slack at the speedo, then pulling the slack back once you put the speedo in. How is your stock cable routed? On my car when I put the new Gemo cable in, it seemed longer than the factory one, so I had to rout it up over the top of the CV around the back of the tranny mount and down. When I got my car originally, the cable came straight out of the angle drive towards the firewall. If you have too much cable and just push the extra in to the tunnel, the cable will break again. Ask me how I know. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
