I need some ideas., OT- Trying to have a charity event .. Options

I am heading downhill guys (and girls). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) Looks like I am gonna be in desperate need of a power wheelchair in the next few months. FUCK !! MDA is trying to help me get a chair. Notice I said trying... So far, denied. They are appealing right now. Should have a final answer by the end of May. WTF??

Anyway, if I get the chair, we gotta upgrade to a acessable van. Theres another problem. We have a van to trade in for one that has a taller ceiling. Like an 80's VW something or other. Then outfit with a lift. But, all this costs duckets. That is where I need ideas... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ;

I was thinkin swap meet, show, BBQ, race, etc. Let me know what u think. We have accomadations for everything but a race (garage, parking lot, big BBQ, etc.) here at/on our property.

Dave C. I am very sorry to learn of you situation. I know how difficult it can be to ask for help, but I am glad you did. I am delighted that you were the first one to submit a winning request in my 'FREE 914 license plate' thread. I would like to use this hot topic (100+ post & 1200+ hits) to help with your situation. I am asking for input and refinement of the following proposal from all the knowledgable 914 Club.com friends.

I have been collecting all the 914 plates I could find for several years, knowing that some day I would find the proper use for them. I think this is it. There is obviously an interest for these plates here in this forum proved by the traffic my thread has generated in just a few days. I would like to donate all the spares in my collection with the procedes going to help purchase your chair or van. Many of the winners in my contest have offerd to send me $'s but I said no. I am sure the ones who already have plates would be glad to contribute to this cause. The extra 914 plates I have could be listed for a price or for a suggested donation. Some of the better ones could be auctioned. I am happy to provide the plates for free and handle the shipping, but I would appreciate it if I could be reimbursed for the postage fees (about $2.00 per plate). There would need to be an address provided for the donations to be sent. I am also willing to take care of that. I would not be offended at all if you choose to have someone else handle that fiduciary responsiblitiy. A list (or photo) of the avialable plates could be posted and selections could be reserved waiting for the funds to be received and then the plates would be shipped.

I also have a contact at the Nevada DMV who produce a limited number of the plate pictured below for me. I have given them as gifts, traded a few and sold a couple on Ebay. The last one went for $30. I only have 2 remaining but was planning on getting more. Some of these could also be made available. The cost to me is $3.00 in quantity. It is also possible to get some other alpha-numeric combination done (7 space max) if anyone has any good ideas.

Let me know what you guys think. How best can we handle the details and capitalize on this opportunity? What potential problems have I overlooked?
