Is Worldwide Part #16426 the 1.5 hp starter? I am looking for a cheap higher power starter to use in my 72 1.7 liter.

Will the starter from a 72 911 S (The above part number) work on a 914?

I'm not sure which year starters will work and which won't. I looked in the archives and didn't see this part number listed anywhere.

Matt,

That is a Lester number and yes it will work. The difference between the stock (16300 or SR17X) and this one (16426 or SR68X) is the hp. The stock starter is 0.8 kW (also used on the 911) and this one is 1.5 kW. You may also find the poles on the solenoid slightly different. It will work and you won't believe how fast the motor will spin/
