Today after installing front Konis on the V8 914 , started the car and the water pump hose clamp was loose so it puked out a fair amount of coolant. Added a 50/50 mix. ran the car until warmup and drove the car, cold and rainy weather, so it didn't really get hot. @ 160-170.
Any suggestions that I should do as far purging out any air that might be in the system. Or maybe I don't need to do anything.
TIA

Well I followed Johns instructions to the letter. I pulled off the t-stat housing and found, no t-stat? I had a new 160 Hypertech. So I decided I would drill and use that one.
After installation I started the car and topped off the filler, checked for leaks and allowed car to warm up. Went for a short drive. While driving I saw a big white cloud in my rear view mirror, the top water pump hose came off. Dumped all coolant onto the street, walked back and got my tow dolly , hooked up car. Drove back to CAMP and proceeded to wash off the under hood area and the outside of the car.
Installed a double hose clamp setup on the top hose, neck is long enough to take two.
I then unloaded car and proceeded to start all over. I let it cool and started and then topped off again, this time when warm I bleed at the upper and lower petcocks on the radiator, also went back and added more to the filler. I ran the car and it cooled down from 210 to 160 and stayed like that while at idle for 10 minutes.
I am just glad this didn't happen tomorrow at the track, I can just hear the shit I would get.
Anyway I think plans call for a complete upgrade of all hose clamps and another complete coolant flush and bleeding.
