So after my fuel pump wiring extravaganza, I found I had some how fried the wire from the points. So tonight I replaced the condensor and point's. This was my first time ever setting points, in the past I had just watched. I set them to what I felt was right, wen't to hit the key, it sounded like it was trying, but nothing was happening. I go back, pull the cap, and the wire to the point's is once again charcol, and it smell's like BBQ. This is so bizzar! The only thing I can think of is that when I put in the 73 relay board the wiring was different, so It smoked them. I'm at a total loss. What's going on here?

Many people will tell you that the wiring and boards area all the same..
I have burnt 3-4 wiring harness' by switching between early and late relay boards and early/late starter/coil wiring. I'm betting you have the tach and coil wire swapped right now. Either in the 14 pin connector or at the coil. B |
