Lennies914 and I are welding up some AC holes the PO put all over my car and we are having a problem with blow through. We currently have it set at A 1.4 with flux core .035 #2 wire!
Lennie is almost to Harbor freight and wants to know what is the best used with our cars?? Thanks for any quick replies!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

I have found ESAB Easy-Grind 0.23" wire and 75/25 gas to be the best. As mentioned above, the metal has to be uber-clean, too. Can't say which settings, since I don't have the same MIG welder that you have...
Where ever possible, also put a heat sink behind the weld. HF has a brass spoon that works pretty well. And weld in short bursts to keep from warping the metal and to avoid heat gain that can lead to blow-through. Geoff |

easy grind. thats the wire i was trying to remember. im going to try that for a rust repair on my boys ghia. do you think their is a difference? does it really grind easier? I suppose so, but I never really did a side-by-side comparison. I bought it (on my second reel now) based on suggestions on this forum.
