Its flaking off and the red plastic underneath is revealing itself. At first glance it looks like red over spray. I can't get a photo now they are in my attic. Is this common? Time to replace or can the be painted/plated?

roll of aluminum foil tape was about $5. No toxic fumes and took about 1/2 hour to apply to both sides.
And it is definitely more reflective than the old silver paint/red plastic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) here is a pic of just the running lights after redoing with aluminum foil tape...brake lights are much brighter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Attached image(s)
