I just wanted to know if anyone knew what thread pitch for the M8 hex bolt that works with the front sway bar reinforcement plate? The reason I ask is that I purchased OEM 914-501-162-10 and went down to my local ACE hardware store and none of thier M8 worked (1.00 or 1.25 thread pitch????) I called AA after purchasing these plates and they can't or won't tell me what is the correct pitch. I've purchased parts from AA in the past and this is the first time that no one can tell me what thread pitch. Any help would be appreciated, I've pulled the gas tank, made the modifications and shortly will be working on the SS fuel line, but wanted to finish the sway bar project before embarking down the center tunnel... thanks, Fern (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) |

Maybe the knucks at Automobile Atlanta did not know the thread pitch! I am sure that they would probably tell you if they knew. Not real secret information Hello to all. Group: Members Posts: 320 Joined: 9-November 04 From: Miami, FL, USA Member No.: 3,080 Region Association: South East States | George, I'm no mechanic by any means, but I do know how to thread a bolt through nut plate and this didn't work????? I took the plate to my local ACE hardware store and three associates, for the life of them, figure out why none of the M8 bolts they had couldn't fit. I picked up six M8x1.25 (25M) bolts and had to saw through the STRIPPED bolts. I wanted to do a trail run and aligned both plates on either side of the vehicle housing and started - very carefully - to thread the bolts, they turn about 3/4 way and then hit a wall. Seeing that everyone that I consulted told me 1.25 thread pitch and now you confirm it - it didn't work. I ended up having to cut off the bolts and now am one reinforcement plate short. Can you test one of those plates that you have to see if maybe, just maybe it is a bad batch? thanks, Can you check 1.25. Maybe the knucks at Automobile Atlanta did not know the thread pitch! What you received was a genuine piece of factory bagged , what we call, Porshit. When I tried to screw in the proper factory bolt that Eric and I said goes in it, it would not thread. NICE. The performance products aftermarket part will not even thread the proper bolt, yet it comes with its own 1.0 thread bolts. This factory sway bar reinforcement plate you received has 7x1.0 nuts welded to it. How does the factory expect us to do a factory restoration if they are either providing inferior parts or NO PARTS AT ALL????????? I want to in front of the whole club APOLOGIZE to the guys at Automobile Atlanta for calling them knuckles, and trade that name calling to the whole Porsche factory. Please accept my jumping to conclusions Auto Atlanta. Shame on you Porsche factory. |
