I've done 4 valve checks/adjustments, made sure my exhaust seals perfectly, and did all the routine tune up stuff like look for vacuum leaks and whatnot,
from here it seems like it might get a little more expensive to fix (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I got this car a few weeks ago for a steal of a price so its not the end of the world for me if the engine needs work I have attached a video to my post just click on the image, the hissing noise is coming from the K&N filter the PO put on, its the ticking i'm concerned about Thanks in advance for any suggestions Kevin (sorry about the vid the lens fogged up as soon as i got outside) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i694.photobucket.com-11752-1306687242.1.jpg) |

If your exhaust is not leaking, then it is a leak between head and top of one of the cylinders. It happened to me on a VW type 1 with a 1600 cc engine. Top of one of the cylinders was damaged, and the engine sounded like a flapping air pump. You might see it on a compression test.
