Howdy all! I just bought my 3rd 914. The first was my first car, I picked it up 5 years ago for $1000 and it's still my daily driver ('74 red car in pic). The second is a '72 5 lug project that I'm selling (see classifieds) because of the car that spawned this thread! This new car will be named New Blue, or Bluetiful, or a much better name if I can come up with one (taking suggestions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) ). It's a '74 project with FG flares, 5 lug setup, new paint, ?orange? roll cage, and a rediculous amount of loose parts. Oh yeah it's got a 911 Drum E-brake setup that I will be installing and documenting..if I can figure out how!
First of a mighty barrage/broadside of newb questions: do I have the right flywheel? It's 215mm with about 130 teeth, no separate ring gear. The pressure plate part # fits a 2.0L 6 cylinder...how can I determine if I need a 'conversion' flywheel? Yes I will be running a rebuilt 901 box....for now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) Okay onward with the pics! Let me know what you think of it (good and especially bad/suggestions and such). It needs a ton of assembly work no doubt! Cheers, Brent (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Attached image(s)

Howdy all, wow great feedback thanks for the encouragement and stuff! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
hey Tom, I had never seen or heard of a 914 until my dad's friend offered it to me for sale. I think because I grew up around all my dad's american muscle I wanted something 'different'. Nothing against american muscle, I love me a 455 cubic inch buick v8! My dad won't live forever and he doesn't sell anything. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Thanks for the list SLITS. As for the Porsche badge..the holes are already there. Besides...in addition to a myriad of behavioral and personality defects, I am vain, insecure, and not well-endowed. So I need a Porsche crest on the front of my car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) hey Kent, I bought this last week from a guy in Carlsbad, CA that has a family now and had no time to work on this car...it's been sitting for a couple years. I bought the car, parts, and 2.7L engine for $6,250 which I felt was fair. I will be in touch about that Porsche crest. The shinier the better, it helps me compensate. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This won't be done before Riquemar's, he might be running this weekend!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) However...if a junkyard car is a 1 and Rique's is a 10, I'm going for a 7.5-8. My timeline is months rather than years, and my budget is in the couple thousand range (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . I have other projects and goals, such as buying a house in a year or so. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) |
