Howdy all! I just bought my 3rd 914. The first was my first car, I picked it up 5 years ago for $1000 and it's still my daily driver ('74 red car in pic). The second is a '72 5 lug project that I'm selling (see classifieds) because of the car that spawned this thread! This new car will be named New Blue, or Bluetiful, or a much better name if I can come up with one (taking suggestions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) ). It's a '74 project with FG flares, 5 lug setup, new paint, ?orange? roll cage, and a rediculous amount of loose parts. Oh yeah it's got a 911 Drum E-brake setup that I will be installing and documenting..if I can figure out how!
First of a mighty barrage/broadside of newb questions: do I have the right flywheel? It's 215mm with about 130 teeth, no separate ring gear. The pressure plate part # fits a 2.0L 6 cylinder...how can I determine if I need a 'conversion' flywheel? Yes I will be running a rebuilt 901 box....for now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) Okay onward with the pics! Let me know what you think of it (good and especially bad/suggestions and such). It needs a ton of assembly work no doubt! Cheers, Brent (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Attached image(s)

Hey Eric, the J-tubes for the 911 e-brake are already installed, so I'm good there. I'd take a pic but you can head over and see for yourself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) And you have S brakes or Brembos if I recall, no jealousy required!
Hey George, I'm def getting a Mocal, but I don't know the best place to buy one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I have headers for it...considering heat exchangers though because I use the heat all the time in my /4....even in socal it's useful! Good to hear about the 2.7L, I worry that it will be too slow. I'm coming from a 76HP (dyno'd) 2.0L /4 so my standards are low!! Hey SLITS yeah it's a spin on sandwich adapter...meh. So I take it the Mocal H-shaped thermostat is the preferred way to send oil up front? Hey Eddie GOOD CALL, they are Compomotive made in England 3 piece rims. 8" and 10" sounds about right..I can't wait to polish and wax em up. I have a bill of sale, they only cost the PO $800 bucks with the tires so they are nothing fancy. Yes guys the tires are backwards, I think the PO just threw the rims on without thinking. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) As for the color, I'm not crazy about it. The paint quality is iffy, but with some color sanding (which I will show the process for you guys), it will have a mirror finish for sure. Thinking either the blue/orange Gulf Racing Colors scheme, or maybe a 914/6GT look if the factory did blue instead of orange...still kicking around ideas and totally open to suggestions! It will definitely be some kind of vintage race look with decals and such. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Just bought some conversion tins here in the classifieds so I'll show the install of those purdy soon!
