I'd say to those hesitating to restoring color back to factory Gold should paint it whatever you like... it will just help the values of those of us who are keeping Gold. But since all 914 owners on this board are awesome, forget what I just said. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
In all honesty, these cars are to be enjoyed. Value is purely what you make of it. If Gold will decrease your personal *value* then paint it what you want. I would say just paint it a different original color. I personally wish I could concours my car someday but I know myself enough to know it would be an obsession and I ultimately wouldn't have fun and then wouldn't ever want to drive it for fear of jacking it up. With that said I'm partial to *reasonable* originality which would include paint, trim, EFI/Carb, etc. But then mine has *original* aftermarket shocks and bursch exhaust which I somehow think is okay. It goes to the whole personal value I give it. While Gold isn't the most immediately appealing color, it's super retro and I think drives the retro coolness of the 914 deeper. |
