While cruising (steady throttle) from 2000-2700rpm in any gear, I get "surging" from the engine, like it doesn't know if it wants to accelerate or slow down. No backfires or anything. If I hit the gas, it pulls hard and smooth. Runs fine at steady throttle in the rest of the RPM range.

BTW, It's a 2.0 4cyl with FI, newish vac hoses, Web cam with stock profile and that "GT" 4 pipe muffler everyone loves. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Any ideas of what it could be? From my knowledge, it seems like it's a lean condition but what's the fix?

Thanks for any info. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

check the TPS; probably got wonky contacts at the throttle position used for cruise at that rpm.
you can unplug it and test. it will have zero accelleration but you're just checking to see if the cruise surge condition is improved once you get it there. there are visual (internal) tests and some checks you can do with a multimeter.

could also be a dizzy advance issue but i doubt it...
