Is there an online resource where I can plug in my car's VIN and have it tell me the correct serial numbers for the engine, tranny and also indicate the paint code?

Thanks

Nick

I beg to differ. The correct code is L04I with an uppercase i "I" and not the number one "1".

Every other color code follows that same rule:

Letter Number Number Letter

And to quote Jeff Bowlsby:

Dave Pateman and I have just been informed by PCNA that Black is paint code L04I, as in "i"pronounced 'eye', not the number '1'

Someone at PCNA was (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif)

Do a Google search for L041. VW code for black. Porsche code for black.

Here is a snippet from a rennlist forum thread asking about a color on a 944:

I was hoping some you guys can tell me what the official Porsche code is for the color Black? I'm getting my car repainted in February and wanted to make sure the autobody shop has the right matching original Porsche Black color.

Thank You

Its simple its called black. paint code 041

I think L041...

Mine's black - L041.

Mine is also L041.

Someone said it on the interwebs, therefore it must be true!!!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)

PS: That same Google search also returns results for "L04I" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) And a search for "L04I" also returns VW Black and Porsche Black.
Now what? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)
