Hello everyone, This is my thread to cover my conversion from Carbs to EFI. I will be using the Bitzracing CIS to EFI conversion kit, to replace the webers on the motor now, which is a 2.7l six. (And before anyone asks, I am not selling the carbs, yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Want to make sure it works better before I unload the carbs.) (http://www.bitzracing.com) Ok, I am sure someone will ask why. Well, I autocross the car every month, and drive sometimes on the street. The carbs, due to sitting, tend to gunk up and require regular maintenance, and because, I am hoping the car will idle better, and just in general be more well behaved street driving. (Hey, it may even polute less. One can hope.) First step is to take it and have it tested on the dyno for a benchmark before any changes. (http://www.dynospotracing.com) The kit is fairly complete with good instructions. (You have a few parts to source yourself, easy to get.) As I go, I will provide more part numbers and details. Here's a picture of the parts kit including parts I sourced myself. |

The two-year anniversary is rapidly approaching on your 20-hour EFI conversion... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif) Heh. Life always gets in the way. I think if it was a 911, then 20 hours is a good number. 914, that has carbs.... Lots of parts to find, fabricate, etc. So, 22 hours, eh? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) -- brett |

Minor update. Fixed a few issues, and got the linkage closer. (Still no full throttle.) But, was able to drive the car for the first time. I have a video that shows the start of the car. Having a little trouble getting it to upload to youtube. When I do, I will post a link. And I will get a video of the car driving also. (Still need to take that one. )
Overall. Nice, I like it. Starts right up. Still need to get the idle working better. Appears to be a vacuum leak. (With idle screws all in, I have about 1300 rpm.) Has a little pop at idle, so, need to get that working better. So, now the adventure begins with tuning. Lots more reading to do! -- brett |
