I found these in the trunk of my new car, look like regular 914 shocks with some sort of two+ inch extension on the top. Why in the world would someone install these?Attached Image Attached Image

Me?.... toys?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) You must have me mixed up with someone else (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I've only got:

A boat:

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i31.photobucket.com-3285-1316528947.1.jpg)

A plane:

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i31.photobucket.com-3285-1316528948.2.jpg)

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i31.photobucket.com-3285-1316528948.3.jpg)

and a strange invention for creating dust storms:

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i31.photobucket.com-3285-1316528949.5.jpg)

Whoever says that 914's aren't strong enough for offroading is simply talking out of their (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) or isn't strengthening it in the right places or in the right way. I've had my fair shar of off's

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i31.photobucket.com-3285-1316528950.7.jpg)

and most recently here at 6.25

also here at 10.15

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ssjGuKcFfY

where a mistake on the pace notes meant I enter a 90degree corner at 80mph, when I should have been about 60max. No matter how good a 914 handles, that ain't never gonna make it round. Just a shame the telegraph pole was there as I think we would have made it through the hedge into the field and carried on (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Nevermind.... at least I managed to bring a souveneir back from Ireland:

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i31.photobucket.com-3285-1316528951.8.jpg)

just don't tell Irish Telecom why one of their pole is sitting 4 feet lower now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Only pushed the suspension back 40mm and a little to the right, so going to jig it out over the next few days (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif)

Was going pretty well up until this point, 3rd in class, up against might foe like 911 RS' and Escorts. Managed to catch one of the little 3litre 911 RS' up in this stage with my ickle baby 2litre 4 cylinder lump (can't beat a Raby engine - that's the truth!!!)

BTW - If you want to raise the suspension do not what ever you do fit those shocks, that is NOT a safe way to do it and certainly would not put up with any grief. You want to do it properly and fit some adjustable bottom spring perches or just buy a shock like me that already has these spring perches machined into the chock itself so you can adjust it:

Sorry to anyone on a slow connection.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) seem to have gone a bit OTT with the embedded pictures (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
