Everytime I put something on, I realize I probably have to use sealant or gasket, or o-ring. What is the deal here. I found on the exploded view drawings that the distributor needs an o-ring. The picture on AA and Pelican matches the shape and size of the one I got in my gasket kit. But how does it install? Does it replace the brown hard ring or just slide on and up?

Thanks,

B is dead, old garbage. Cut it off with a razor blade and toss it.
A will stretch over the shaft and slide up. A should have a D cross section, not an O. The flat part goes against the shaft, and the rounded portion faces out.
