So, what goes into a full transmission rebuild?, Pics of the process :) Options

Cairo94507 has entrusted me with the customization/rebuild of his 901 for use in his 3.2 conversion. Based on desires for a street car and budget, we decided on an A/Ga/fX/X/fH set up which will lower RPM and raise shift points to better utilize the Tq of the 3.2. The only improvement would be to get a C first gear set, which would be $$$ so this should be very street-able. Another option would be to lock 1st out and use the stock F gear as 1st. Then a box that was F/O/X/fH would be a nice setup and one that I use often with the larger engines where a 4 speed is preferential.

Here is where I started to remember to take pics. Gutted the case and looked at all the parts. Cairo wants this cleaned and painted as well which I hate to do, but understand and offer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It takes me so long and it is hateful work. The side plate and intermediate plate are soaking right now. Lots of old, oily dirt and schmutz on them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I did clean up the guts of the stack, though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)



BTW, I never have to set stuff out this neatly, but it was a photo op (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Wow, Smitty. You must think I am big time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I have a $99 HF solvent tank full of kero, a used $99 blasting cabinet, and a deep sink for final wash and prep. Perhaps when I move to a more permanent duty station and set up a shop for real, then I would do it.

I figured making helpfull suggestions would add to my street creds and get me a future discount when my rear end needs servicing - wait that sounds really bad. When my tranny needs work, crap he's going to be pissed now also. Should my Sideshift needs work - forget it, nevermind, nothing to see here, please move along.

I know I had one for doing NDT - Heated, Ultrasonic with Tri 1,1,1 - Awesome until California decieded it was bad. I found out yesterday that we can't order 99% pure alcohol without a permit. I use it to clean Fiber Optic Connectors before testing them. I need to move - anyone need a semi-useful body - will clean car parts for room and board. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
