Paint color question. What's your input? Options

Hi all,
So I'm a noob here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and have a paint color question. I owned a boxster a few years back but this is my first 914. It's a black '74, all orginal as far as I can tell. Factory 2.0 with FI. Bought it a couple weeks ago, replaced all the hoses and rebuilt the distriator and have been driving it for the last week or two.

My goal is to fix it up myself and drive it. I want to keep it as orginal as I can. It has survived this long in tack and all orginal and feel it should stay that way to perverve history. Granted it def shows its age and needs work, but it's in decent shape.

BUT... I hate black! lol

So I thought I get your input on it's color.

Should I keep it factory black?
Should I stay with a factory color like the bright Orange?
Should i go with bright red with a white top?
Should I go with a blue?

Heres a pic of the code. As far as I can tell the car has not been modified, painted, or altered in any way except for the wheels and radio. One of the reasons I wanted to keep it that way except for paint, but after all the input I believe I will keep the factory black and just do a accent color along the bottom like the pic struckn posted. Although mine does not have a air dam, just a metal piece that slants back at a angle.
As far as learning on black.... I may end up just doing all the repairs and prep work and getting help to do the final work and paint. I don't want it to look goofy.

And yes Andyrew I figured a red car with black wheel wells wouldn't look bad either, that was part of my thinking as well. I was going to two-tone the seats to match the paint also.

I had my mind set on red, but you guys made some good points. And being as it hasn't been modified yet I now feel like it should stay factory. I hope in the future to buy another one, maybe a donor or one not in as good as shape and modify it. There are some cool cars out there. Bigger motor, flares, red paint, etc. Then I would have one orginal and one modified (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The one with the Black and Yellow accents I Posted in case you aren't aware, is a well known Limited Special Addition Factory Color by the way, and extremely disiralble, known as a Bumble Bee. So if you do clone it, try to get it as close to possible, but being it would be a clone don't swet getting it exact if the cost for the air dam, currect wheels, etc. is out of the budget for now. Eventually in time you can add features later if you want. Word of warning once you start working on 914's it is addictive and you can't stop.
