It's been a year since I bought Oly Blue. You probably recall, she was found in a garage in Texas. Stored away for more than 20 years. Wayne Dempsey was kind enough to check her out and found a very rust free original condition 1974 1.8. With only 25,000 miles. I bought her sight unseen, and she spent the last year in local shops getting a few items addressed. Now, back home, I am preparing to start a refurbishing of this beautiful young girl.
I have already redone the original wheels as we discussed here earlier, and now I removed the faded and torn stripe decals. I may replace them but have not yet decided. Here are some quick reference pics of where I am starting from (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127230.1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127230.2.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127230.3.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127231.4.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127231.5.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127232.6.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-10656-1313127232.7.jpg) More to come as work progresses!! |

It's 10/10...Good luck with the sale! Someone who actually knows what they're looking at will see the value there... |

Looks like she is on her way to a new home. When the new owner gives me permission, I will post more details. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Looks like she is on her way to a new home. When the new owner gives me permission, I will post more details. Congrats on the sale! Before you ship the car off to Calgary, it would be nice if you could, as Tom_T mentioned, snap pics of the car to document how a truly original car should look. I read a lot of comments on the BaT page ..... seems the 914 is as polarizing today as it was back in the 70's. To be honest, I don't agree with your comment about the superiority of the 1.8 over the 2.0, but then again I don't think the 1.8 is as bad as many people believe. While shopping for my car I test drove a '75 1.8, not really expecting much, but walked away pleasantly surprised by how spunky it was (smog equipment was removed). |

My opinion from owning many of both is I would rather have Ljet over Djet. So for longevity, service and drivability the 1.8 is better.
Lower HP yes, but better driving. |
