Scotty B in the Richmond, VA area has agreed to host a transmission rebuild clinic at his shop April 14-15. These clinics are great fun and a great way to rebuild your transmission, with supervision, and readily available parts.
The skinny: - Free to attend for observers. - $300 for builders. Build as many as you can in the two days. Price includes SS hardware. - I have and provide the special tools needed. All you need are regular tools. - I have parts for sale to save you $$. - We can do food and drink if y'all kick in Please click on the links in my signature to see how other clinics have turned out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Please post if you are attending, what you are needing, and if you are a spectator or a builder. Below is a list that I will update periodically update. If you are not on it and would like to be, make sure I know. - BillH1963 - Builder, 2 boxes, paid - Bulitt - one day builder, paid - Phillip W - builder, paid - SUNAB914 - builder, paid - dlee - spectator |

Thank you Scotty (for hosting) and Mike (for the clinic). It was VERY informative and worth the money/effort. For those who only did the one day clinic I have to tell you that the second day was even better. Having experience rebuilding the transmission from the first day (plus help cleaning parts...thanks, Phil) made my second transmission rebuild on Sunday MUCH faster and I felt much more confident.
I learned a LOT and feel like I have a much better understanding about what is going on in the transmission. The extensive amount of damage in my third transmission (which is now a parts box) shows the importance of keeping things aligned and having good shift bushings. I will be changing ALL questionable shift bushings in my cars. It was great meeting other 914world members. Chris helped me a lot on Saturday rebuilding my first transmission and, as a bonus, Chris sold me his beautiful '75 that is now safely home in SC. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) p.s. Chris...I did remember the starting procedure!!!!! |
