I purchased an old set of gauges from a member and had plans to do the LED upgrade. Found out that Mark (Newvintageusa) was unable to do the work, they are swamped with other stuff. I talked to Al Garcia, (awesome Guy) and he is fighting cancer on a day by day basis, and he was not able to do the job in any quick timeframe. (prayers for ya Al) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I jumped onto the world wide web and found a company that does LED kits on Ebay. They have never actually done any work on these types of gauges before, but I figured Hey, i have another set if they mess them up. What the Heck, Why Not. A week later (today actually) the guy calls and said the gauges are done. He took everything apart cleaned them and painted the needles with a ultraviolet paint. The needles actually glow (how cool is that) and the L E D strips are unbelieveable. Mark and Al's work looked very good last time I checked the relevant threads. Looks like WhiteGauges did a general refresh - don't have the threads handy, but is that a distinction from Mark and Al's work, or did they repaint etc as well? Either way, always good to find new shops/vendors.
I bought EL wire to try and use when I build a triple gauge (waiting for John). Sorry, will add link to the thread after I get home. If I can't get that to work, LEDs are an option... |
