I'm still taking apart my new (to me) '76 2.0 for cleaning and I have the fan shroud laid bare with all screws removed. The edges all are free to separate.
There seems to be a pin in the middle of the body of the unit which is holding it together. ![]() Do the halves separate or is it just a tease? |

It does split into two, there are alignment pins that hold it together, if all the fasteners have been removed, some careful prying should get it to separate.
