I thought I remembered seeing a link at another msg board, about tire size + offset fitments on stock fenders. I'm thinking 15x7's, with +23mm offset and 205/50/15's? what about 225's? Wonder if they will fit. I am hoping I win some old BBS's that are 15x7's on ebay, and want to see what size tires I can find for them. thanks!

L8, the first set of wheels are BBS, so they could be just about any offset. BBS made wheels for a lot of different cars, including a number of different years of 911. There's a pretty decent chance that they'll work fine, because most of the 911s you'd put 15" rims on needed about the same offset as the 914 does, but...
It's kinda funny--there's one image there of the rim of a polished Fuchs wheel with a large dent in the lip. Dunno why that's there. The second set of wheels you linked to are the "cookie cutter" ones. Timo, I've seen one other stock-fendered 914 with 911R wheels on it, and they could not fit 205-width tires. I think I recall that they said the interference was on the fender lip side, but I could be mis-remembering that. It was a very pretty blue 914-6 conversion with a 2.7 CIS motor. Nice car. On the whole chassis stiffening question, see one of the other long posts up on this BBS. People have been talking about the kit and the trailing arm stiffness in quite a bit of detail. With pictures, even. --DD |
