Here's the thread where it was discussed:

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?s=&...t&p=1224720

If no one is actively working on it, I would take it on if someone could send me a cast or impression of a factory 6 dash.

Or am I the only one who thought that it was a cool idea...

The 914/6 ignition switch and housing have been supersceded to 964 part numbers. Both are available new from the dealer.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the recessed area of the dash sheet metal. The 911 dash is perpendicular to the steering column while the 914 is not. As a result, the ignition lock is not perpendicular to the dash. The factory six cars have an angled depression in the dash to accommodate the difference in angle.

People (myself included) have fabricated a piece by folding sheet steel but it is time consuming and not "right" IMHO. In the thread linked in my original post, there was a discussion about duplicating this area of the original dash.

I would take one. I reworked the 911 piece to (sort of) work with my dash and it's OK, but if you had a nice piece that actually fit better, i'd go with that.
