These are new, and drilled for safety wire. The beauty is that you don't have to replace all the bolts, so if you want piece of mind that your CV joints will not come off, you can safety wire the bolts on. This will make it much easier.

I am certainly in favor of this modification, however the two holes per bolt can be a problem.
I drilled some for myself back in 2006. Only did 1 drilling per bolt, that would be one hole on each side of the bolt 180 degrees from each other. Put them on and guess what, over half of the holes lined up to point right at the flange that holds the rubber. Spent a while trying to get lock wire thru those to do the lock wire thing and gave up. There is just not enough room to grab the end of the lock wire and pull/push it thru. So I purchased a set from Dr. Evil. They had two holes also. I haven't even bothered to try them as I figured they would be the same , not lining up for easy lock wiring. 4 holes per bolt would solve this problem. I am going to revisit this as I have the axles off now. Maybe between mine and Dr. Evil's I will have enough that line up OK. The other way to only drill one hole completely thru the bolt would be to make up a jig that would line up the bolt to the correct angle every time before drilling. Tom |
