My 1973 914 came to me as a non-running basketcase, so I don't know if the tachometer even works. I suspect a DAPO repair on the tach gauge, as the needle is bent/tweaked, and the rubber bezel gasket is awry...

If someone nearby has a spare tach to sell cheap or even just borrow so I can hook it up to see if the signal from my Subaru ECU (modified with a 904SVO-designed tach converter) works, that would be worth some free beer from me.

Alternately, I can reach under your dash and plug the tach signal wire and ground into my tach to see if it moves. I'm willing to drive an hour or so, or you can stop by and help me drink some good Holiday Ale homebrew outta my kegerator!

I guess another option is for someone to explain how to test the factory 914 tach. Did a search, but found nothing.

Anyone?
