Speeding cameras Options

I am not sure if anyone has brought this up before but they have been implementing speeding/red light cameras down here for some time now and unfortunately I have been nabbed several times (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Every time I get one I am always tempted to go fight it but seeing as it doesnt hit your record or you insurance it is usually just easier to log on to the website and pay the darn thing.

I have always heard of people getting out of them by sending letters saying that there is no violation of contract between you and the ticketing company (in my case photonotice.com) and siting that the company itself is not a legal entity and the ticket was never issued correctly by a ticketing officer. I also always want to question the most recent calibration records for said camera.

Anyways, has anyone ever had luck with this? I am not against paying the price of breaking the law and I dont normally speed excessively but I hate speed traps in little towns designed just to do that, trap you. Also, if I am going to pay something I would like to speak with an officer and at least ask to see his radar gun and check his calibration sticker.

Common in OK rural small towns too, & locals will tell you where to look out.

Oddly enough, Wash DC is one of the worst using those BS traffic cams, as I found out on a biz trip in Oct. on what looked like a freeway/parkway, which reduced from 65 mph to 50 at the district border & the sign was obscured by trees/brush!

Unfortunately, being in a rental car I didn't get notice until 2 months later & had no way to object to the ticket & obscured sign, but I was nailed at 65 - which I thought was still the correct speed limit.

Frankly, those cameras are just a govt. sponsored revenue enhancement scam, as I found out in researching that one in DC online, and from our local SoCal cities' experiences.

Several legal challenges & the cities not making the promised revenue from these private traffic cam companies has caused several SoCal cities to drop theirs & remove them.
