I am not sure if anyone has brought this up before but they have been implementing speeding/red light cameras down here for some time now and unfortunately I have been nabbed several times (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
Every time I get one I am always tempted to go fight it but seeing as it doesnt hit your record or you insurance it is usually just easier to log on to the website and pay the darn thing. I have always heard of people getting out of them by sending letters saying that there is no violation of contract between you and the ticketing company (in my case photonotice.com) and siting that the company itself is not a legal entity and the ticket was never issued correctly by a ticketing officer. I also always want to question the most recent calibration records for said camera. Anyways, has anyone ever had luck with this? I am not against paying the price of breaking the law and I dont normally speed excessively but I hate speed traps in little towns designed just to do that, trap you. Also, if I am going to pay something I would like to speak with an officer and at least ask to see his radar gun and check his calibration sticker. |

Call me a mean heartless bastard but I think every one of you guys or the drivers of your cars deserves to pay every ticket you guys get.
I mean come on, You guys want to violate traffic laws (red light running being the worst) then when you get busted on camera you want to try to use some technicality to wiggle your way out of it. Seems pretty shameless to me. Why not just drive without violating the traffic laws? Millions do it every day..... --- bill |

This is a fact with many studies to back up that fact. the teener brake lights are even lower than most ,so stopping sudden puts us at an even greater risk of rearender. one company gets 50 percent of the income from the tickets.(AZ privet company) And again up here they got in trouble for buying our local council members. Think of the cash you could make just by sending out PAY ME letters. Right or wrong you are innocent until proven otherwise |

Right or wrong you are innocent until proven otherwise Not really. You are guilty of breaking the law the moment you break the law regardless of whether anyone finds out or not. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) This is really about personal responsibility. Every single time i was caught speeding or running a red light i have always paid my ticket. Why? Because i screwed up and i knew it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) |

Because i screwed up and i knew it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) Agreed, but there is an important distinction here. You haven't gotten a ticket until you've gotten a ticket. In this case, a company in Arizona has tried to fool you into admitting guilt so that they can pass the picture on to the municipality so they can give you a ticket. By filling that form out and sending it back, you plead guilty and your right to a presumption of innocence is gone. Your only defense at that point is to challenge the accuracy of the camera settings or the timing on the light, ie: the yellow is too short. (there is a standard for those things) My point is simply this, you should never fill out the form on the tattle tale ticket. If they feel they have enough evidence without you admitting guilt, they will send it on and you will get your ticket and you can deal with it then. If you don't agree with this, perhaps you would consider going to the police department and turning yourself in each time you speed? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) You are missing (my) point: If i know i ran a red light and if i get caught i will pay the fine and move on. I screwed up. I got caught. I cowgirl up and take responsibility for my actions. Simple as that. To me, this is a matter of integrity. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) |
