One of the B-17's that was in the movie Memphis Belle is in San Diego at
Gillipie Field in El Cajon. They will be giving rides this Sat/Sun for $450.00 Phone number to book 918-340-0243. I missed a chance at this around 10 years ago, been kicking myself about that ever since. I'm booked on the Sunday 10:30 flight, woo hoo. Sunday can't come fast enough. Can't wait to see some pics. This thing flies over the valley about once a year or possibly every other year. I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet next time.
The last time I was in one it was Oshkosh and it was on the ground. I can only imagine what it would be like to hear and "feel" those engines humming along at 6,000 feet, from the cockpit no less... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |
