As revealed earlier, I don't know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) about suspension. I did know enough to listen to the pros and have taken Eric's set up advice. (guess who has new Bilsteins coming (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) My question is this; how do I identify what I currently have? Is this done by the number of coils? Is it stamped somewhere? Color coded? Here is a shot of mine. And...what does 100,120,140lb represent? What happens at a given value? TIA, kent

Very good point. I'll check in with Eric once I get the engine/trans sorted....working on the clutch setup now. Yeah that EZ30 score was huge! $400 for all that? The newer the better it seems like. Had to replace a lot of brittle hoses, a few sensors, etc. on mine due to the harsh weather around here. Lots of snapped bolts too. Which were fun to drill out. Troll Craigslist...that's where I found mine. Lots of Subies with bad transes out there because its the weak point. I want to see your clutch work. I'll go with a 33 in a heartbeat if one appears. 7 main bearings, 9000 crazy RPM's and best of all....wait for it........an existing Mega Squirt map for it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Seriously, I'd be washing & waxing Bigkats car for that kind of info. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Me Too, Getting ready to do rear springs. I have a set that has a yellow dot and was supposed to be OEM. Someone suggested these were off a 914-6? Is there any reason not to use them on my 914-4? They look like new stock. Doug As you can see, I'm certainly no expert in this field but I would if your doing shocks. They're only $99 new. In my case, I had no choice as I'm adding weight so I needed a new suspension. QUOTE the progressives will have a softer rate for the first amount of compression and then the final will be 140lb. the tighter spaced coils will compress with the lighter weight and then the coils will stack and the rest of the spring will compress. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) Thx for taking the time to explain that. I love info. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) |
