I'm doing a Audi 1.8t conversion into my 914. I'm using a complete engine/tranny out of a FWD a4.
I've got the engine/tranny into the 914 and the transmission lines up perfectly with the rear hubs.

Now I need to have a set of custome axles made.
Anyone know of a place (preferrably in the Bay Area, CA) that can make these for me.
I've found a place on the east coast but feel more confortable being able to take my car to the place and letting them do the measurements. Also, I only know of the one place right now. I'd like to know of other places (even east coast) that may do it so that I can compare/shop for the price.

Thanks in advance.

the article was my inspiration, though I won't be as extreme with my setup - at least not initially.

Any pics of the mounting? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad2.gif)
Would you be interested in selling me a mount kit? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

I had the opertunity to get an a4 engine/tranny for really cheap and was thinking for a lightweight car to put it in. I was checking out a coworkers new 914 and got the idea and the same day just happened to see a 914 on ebay in my area for $200. So I figured why not, lets try it.

Later on, while looking for more info I came across the EC article and that's where I got the idea for the cable shifter from the Boxster. Although the tranny is different than the one he used, I'm hoping i'll be able to get the cable shifter to work.

For mounting, I used the 914's mounting points along with the 914 rubber mounts. I just welded together a sub-frame (so to say) that mounts the 1.8t motor and the frame bolts up to the original mounting points on the 914. This allows me to drop the motor out just as easily as the 914 motor. Perhaps I will have to convert to stiffer mounts later on (I guess from a 911?). It was really pretty easy to make, as long as your measurements are good/accurate.

I can't find my digital camera, so no pics for now.
