Some education...please.
I assume that to use a 911 caliper on the front you would need a 911 front suspension (strut and such)? How about for the rears? Will a 911 rear caliper fit a 914-4 rear suspension "as is"? |

Some education...please. I assume that to use a 911 caliper on the front you would need a 911 front suspension (strut and such)? How about for the rears? Will a 911 rear caliper fit a 914-4 rear suspension "as is"? Yes Sir... Kinda Sir. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) OK, let's start with the front. 911 Calipers will fit the front of a 914 if you take the spacers out; 911 M-Caliper's that is. You would also have to have an early strut or purchase an early rotor to go with it. That's the offset. Problem? Well, it's the same size pad as a 914, just a bigger piston so, you'd want to change the MC to a 19mm and you really wouldn't gain anything other than moving your proper bias a little more toward the front (better than moving it to the back by installing a larger piston back there). Rears... same thing. No spacers in a 911 caliper and it bolts right on. Keep the spacers and you need to add a vented 911 rear rotor and space the calipers back by about 4.5-5mm (dust shield/no dust shield) and you'll want longer bolts (that we stock) because the stock mounting bolts will only be threaded on by 3-4 threads. Read above though. Getting a heavier rear bias and doing nothing up front is a recipe for disaster in a 914. Using 48mm pistons up front? (Brembo, 911, BMW) and you should have a 38mm piston in the rear (911, 914-6). Stock 42mm up front = stock 33mm in the rear. Hope that helps the world! |
