Failed cam bearings in this manner are somewhat normal. This is the reason why double thrust bearings are necessary. That said; properly seating the thrust bearings during assembly, prior to measurement and fitting is generally what causes this.

That said; properly seating the thrust bearings during assembly, prior to measurement and fitting is generally what causes this. It's quite possible that the wrong oil pump hitting the camshaft, along with the crankshaft dowel pins being mis aligned may have also contributed to the camshaft bearings. Rich |
