Alright, are the best ways of strengthening the body of a 914? I want to weld in a role cage but I don't have a clue which kit to buy. I know the cage is a huge factor in making the body stronger. The car is at the stage now where anything is possible so please help me out, I only want to do this once.

Most people go with a Long and GT stiffing kit... A lot of people on the forum refer it to the Engman kit as he was a respected parts builder here.

Since his passing it's really hard to find his parts but http://www.maddogsmotorsports.org/CHASSIS_KITS.html
has the same kind of stuff.

For a daily driver do not put a cage in as your head bouncing of the roll bar can kill you without a helmet on.
