My 70 six was equipped with the optional chrome 15" steel wheels. The spare was not chrome.

I have not seen a 914/6 with a different finish spare. Worth checking into. H I am guessing the dealer took the chrome spare from four cars to upgrade one for a quick profit. I hear Porsche dealers did things like this back then. Date stamp matches. |

QUOTE I am guessing the dealer took the chrome spare from four cars to upgrade one for a quick profit. I hear Porsche dealers did things like this back then. Date stamp matches. That did happen, although not at all dealerships. Not at least the dealer that I worked at. Also if they weren't on the COA, they may have been chromed locally. Then the dealer usually would only do the road wheels and not the spare. H |
