I burn out both my brake light elements when I apply the brakes. Replaced the switch at the pedal cluster and cleaned the taillight housing contacts.

Bad ground?

Make sure your lamp base looks like this... Note the oval electrode. European style.

Not like this... These will cause a bad connection and sometimes short.
