My thermostat cable needs replaced. It's all frayed and messed up at the end where it connects top side. Right now, it's not connected and my flaps are in default wide open status.
So, looking at Pelican (part# 021-119-751-OEM), I see these for $41.75. Any alternatives here for this part? Something from a bike shop perhaps? And how hard to replace this with the engine in the car? |

Dude... for real? Why not consolidate your questions to one post, rather than flooding us with three of them at once.
You can have a local bike shop make you a cable for the thermostat for $5 or less. The clutch cable from Pelican works well. All clutch cables wear out over time. Replace it. |

I broke my questions up because I find it easier to locate the topic later. And sometimes, all of these extra questions get lost in the shuffle. My bad. |

You can have a local bike shop make you a cable for the thermostat for $5 or less. Yeah, go to the bike shop or maybe even Walmart. I just bought a standard length of cable. I wondered if it would cut cleanly with out fraying with regualr wire cutters...no problem. And I'd sugggest cutting it a couple of inches long! I replaced my good/functional cable just because it was short and hard to connect to the cooling flaps rod. Its a LOT easier to connect with an inch or two to hold on to with vise grips while you tighten the holding screw with the flaps closed against the springs. |
