My thermostat cable needs replaced. It's all frayed and messed up at the end where it connects top side. Right now, it's not connected and my flaps are in default wide open status.
So, looking at Pelican (part# 021-119-751-OEM), I see these for $41.75. Any alternatives here for this part? Something from a bike shop perhaps? And how hard to replace this with the engine in the car? |

Dude... for real? Why not consolidate your questions to one post, rather than flooding us with three of them at once.
You can have a local bike shop make you a cable for the thermostat for $5 or less. The clutch cable from Pelican works well. All clutch cables wear out over time. Replace it. |

Dude... for real? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) The reason for this web site is to share information, help and answer peoples questions regardless of the format. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Trust me, I agree wholeheartedly EC. But one person posting 3 separate threads in the span of ten minutes, all of them fairly similar in nature is unnecessary and makes things complicated for other people who have questions and would like theirs answered as well. Imagine if everyone posted all of their questions in separate threads. Not to mention, all three questions have been answered before and a quick search would have netted the same answers. I also always operated under the assumption that we should consolidate our question threads much like the classifieds rules states. But that might just be me. Either way, glad to see he got answers and help - for this is why we're all here. |

Certainly off-topic, but I wish to respectfully disagree on this assertion. The three topics were "clutch cable", "thermostat cable" and "sound proofing pad in engine bay". All related because there are on a 914, I suppose. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'll admit I probably could have done some searching and reading, but I also like the interactive nature of the board. I'll even admit to being a bit lazy. I put them all up on the board right away because it was the beginning of my work day, and I wanted to get these items from my weekend warrior mechanic sessions off of my to do list. Anyway, happy motoring and cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

Yup, to each their own. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) It's possible I was just grumpy coming into work today. Which is really what I should be doing instead of reading 914World. But then I get more grumpy... it's a vicious circle. |
