I purchased a 911 magnesium engine case that has an odd serial number seeming authentically stamped in the correct place. 3180259. The case is a 1R series casting number. Any way to check this number out? Thanks! Brad

Thanks Jeff and Ed, It doesn't fall in the numbers but that isn't unusual. I owned a couple 68's years ago but they were aluminum case engines?? I certainly didn't remember the mag case before 1969. Furthering your education includes relearning things forgotten. Brad

It falls well withing the range of numbers for a 68 targa!

3180001-3180347

It is number 259 in the range of 347 built!
