Installing the exhaust tomorrow. I don't have a torch but I do Have a glass top stove. If you did the gasket ring annealing on your stove ok let me know. I don't want the copper gasket to damage the glass top. Thanks.

The quenching is important. If you want to you can build a small fire in the yard - I think you might see some scarring with the stove. The temp you are looking for is a dull but clearly visible red. Cherry red is a warning sign about melting. I think you are in the 1200 degree range, but I go by eye. The quenching is VERY important. I know it sounds wrong to those of us working with steel, but air cooling is the way silver and gold workers actually harden the metal! This started as a single sheet of silver and two stones. So I know my non-ferrous. Sorry it came out so huge.  And for the Capn - "Ah squiddy I had nothin against ye! I just heard there was gold in yer belly". |
