Rehabilitating '74 914.
Prior to this project, the front hood latch was difficult to release... much effort was needed to pull the cable to release the trunk. Have installed NEW latch cable. No kinks... everything looks fine. Still, much effort is needed to pull the cable. Suggestions? |

Is the cable sticky/hard to pull when it's disconnected from the latch? If not, the latch itself may be dirty/gummed up. It may need cleaning and fresh lube. Some folks put some lube (wd40) in the cable sheath as well.
