Hello 914 world. I'm hoping you guys can help me out with a little info about a possible purchase. A few years ago my mother casually mentioned that her and her husband had purchased a 914. My mom isn't really a car person so I thought it was odd but didn't give it much thought. we live 12 hours away so i've never seen the car. A week ago she called me and said she was moving from upstate NY to Georgia and offered to sell me the car at an extremely low price. I think she mentioned originally paying around 6-7k for the car a few years ago and at the price she offered it to me for, it might as well be free.
Since her car knowledge is lacking, getting any real info from her is tough. I know it runs and drives. They drive it about once a week. It looks clean in the photos but i'm aware of all the rust issues these cars have and what might be hiding. I have had multiple late 70's early 80's Volkswagens and Audi's and currently have a 1970 Saab 96 in the garage. I'm no stranger to quirky european cars. I'm going to post some pictures and i'm hoping you folks can tell me anything of interest about the car based on the photos. I've done tons of searches/research about the 914 but it's always nice to get info from experienced eyes. Maybe one of you might have even seen this car before? basically any thoughts/info you have based on the photos would be great. Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If they drive it every week then there is no reason you couldn't fly out and drive it home.

And the some more (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Then just (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) drive it some more. Six days a week. Never let it see any jack stands. And do not add any money into it. Red seats are fine. Just put money into gas (weekly) and maybe some oil(quarterly) and every few years some new rubber. And then drive it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Best ROI ever. |
