Does anyone know the weight of a stock 1974 2.0? Brian Long's Porsche 914 & 914/6 book lists it as 2030 lbs which doesn't seem right.
Yesterday I took my car to the truck scales at the winery I work at and my car weighed in at 2040 lbs (the scales round up to the nearest 20lbs). Now, my car is far from stock. Some of the bigger weights savings I can think of without looking at the car are fiberglass bumpers, headers instead of heat exchangers, no radio/speakers/spare tire, jack, back pad,. Anyway, you get the point. With the 2030 lbs number in mind, I was expecting less, but is that a correct number? |

The 1973 Owner’s Manual gives an unladen weight of 2,139 pounds. Road and Track gave a curb weight of 2,195 lbs and a test weight of 2,540 for a July 1970 914/6 road test. Road and Track lists the curb weight of a 1.7 litre 914 as 2,085 lbs in their June 1970 Fiat, MGB, TR6, 914 comparison test. And finally Road and Track’s 1973 or 1974 2.0 litre 914 road test gives a curb weight of 2,145 lbs and a test weight of 2,460 lbs.
