Hi members
I just made a contact to possibly make a run of ( Carbon fiber targa tops) yes the REAL THING not a wrap. A 914 top is being source to make the tooling. I understand I have no prices yet...but as soon as a donor top is found. I will be able to get an estimate based on the number of members interested. I will post pictures of a 911 targa top to give you an idea of the finished product. Who might be interested? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Attached image(s) |

Outside the different rear mounting brackets I can't find a difference between the tops. The fiberglass looks the same.
todd- 914 tops were mass produced with 1969 tech by a VW partner. They are not as complicated as the 911 rag top. We don't need hardware, it's on the top we're replacing. 120,000 fiberglass tops were made. Good ones are $100. The only benefits to us is a few pounds lighter and cool looks. 914 owners are not Porsche owners, we generally don't pay extra for exclusive or "the best". So it's not what you want to hear but the closer to $1000 you get the fewer you're selling. Reference the Saratoga top and CF trunk lids. |
