Anyone have a link to a detailed carpet installation how-to? I bought the carpet kit, floor vinyl, and sill trim from 914Rubber, but my '74 came with nothing on the floors, just bare metal with some kind of thin adhesive-backed sound deadener. I've got these pieces all laid out on my garage floor and other than the obvious overlay carpet pieces I'm clueless as to where all this goes and how it is attached (I'm guessing 3M spray adhesive?)
Experiences appreciated. GA |

I just did mine too, used Mark's German Loop stuff. A little more expensive than the Perlon, but the loop should hold up better over time. Like Larmo, I used 3M #90 adhesive to do the carpet on the longs and the kidney shaped piece that fits over the drivers side wheel well area. With the grommets that are now part of the package the loop looks incredible. I didn't used anything on the center tunnel, but may pull that and use carpet tape, or maybe I'll just use adhesive on that too, haven't decided. Either way you decide to go, new carpet in these cars makes a HUGE difference.
Of course I also have Mikey's door panels and the armrest pocket (drivers side) and passenger side piece. I'll be springing for those seat covers here pretty soon too. As well as a new back pad. I'll snap some photos tonight and post them here. |
