Hi members
I just made a contact to possibly make a run of ( Carbon fiber targa tops) yes the REAL THING not a wrap. A 914 top is being source to make the tooling. I understand I have no prices yet...but as soon as a donor top is found. I will be able to get an estimate based on the number of members interested. I will post pictures of a 911 targa top to give you an idea of the finished product. Who might be interested? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Attached image(s) |

This is going to be good.Anticipation.A ton of work to get the exterior to shape up to smooth finish.
I found the top must be fitted to the car to eliminate warping while fairing, every nuance of shadow filled when sidelit. The stippled original finish is usually uv damaged and must be taken down to the underlying grp. I gave it 3 coats of microfilled epoxy to create a datum, then faired to a fine splined curve when fit. I kept the driprail tho I do like the clean look when filled. The ribbed details at the rear is what I filled and plan to install LED brake lamps in. The rubber seals I have are in good shape and upset correctly to give a good fit,if they are beat, they won't. Having done this before,I'm sure you know how much labour is involved. From what I've seen, they will be spectacular. |
