I gots oil comin' outta the place where the speedometer cable attaches. Not actually where it screws in but where the thingy goes into the tranny. I've tightened it at the housing but that doesn't seem to help and it swivels. I saw where an "O" ring is on the shaft via the Haynes manual pictures. Is this the seal that keeps the tranny fluid in?

That is the key: Hylomar doesnt setup. Neither does Dow Corning 730.

I found the same thing with the new o-rings... I ended up re-installing the old just like you did.


I did force one up and inside only to have it leak BEFORE I dropped the car off the stands...LOL
